About This Artwork
Artist Xie Ke's paintings, sculptures, and installations have an innovative and modern design ethos. Most of his works are based on these classic, blindfolded teenage figures. The "After 80" series of sculptures is one of Sheik's classic series, featuring a post-80s superboy. Sometimes he jumps onto a chair like Spider-Man and looks out, sometimes he looks down on the river with a one-handed upside-down street dance, and sometimes he looks down on Astro Boy with an iron arm. Signature poses fly over the summit, sometimes sitting in meditation like an old monk...and all these difficult movements are done by the teenager blindfolded. Sheik hopes to express his pursuit of fairness and justice through the concept of the sunshine boy's spiritual view of the world.
