About The Sculpture
The Red Memory series is a famous work of artist Chen Wenling. The title of his work Red Memory, is an image reconstruction of an adult's memory of childhood, but in my opinion, it is not important. An image of a Chinese rural child who has been examined from a specific cultural perspective. This is a public image of a typical Chinese child that can be shared and recognized by people all over the world. The success of Red Memory stems first from Chen Wenling's accurate grasp of specific cultural perspectives. With this cultural perspective, we can make the following conjectures: contemporary urban, intellectuals. The former gives the red children the image characteristics of rural Chinese children, rustic and wild, while the latter gives the red children a simple, lively, innocent, and generous temperament. Chen Wenling created a brand-new image of the country in Red Memory. This is the image of the red child created at least in 2002. It was cast in bronze and painted in red color.
