About This Project
There are a total of four stations on Line 2 of the Changchun Metro that were pioneered by the Changchun Rail Transit Group in China as assembly stations, and Xinglongbao Station is one of them.
The work "Modern Times" at Xinglongbao Station, which won the "Top Ten Most Beautiful Subway Stations in China" award, breaks through the inertia of standard stations in general. The idea is to enlarge the entire station level into the interior of a lady's carrying bag in the form of a finished product. The precast concrete structure at the top is designed as a large zipper shape that runs through the entire station floor space, and the walls on both sides make the interior of the bag. The overhead zippers unfold to reveal the everyday items of young people. Perfume bottles and lipstick bags on the station floor are fun and artistic seats, with girly cute pink and metallic accents. The art design of the station floor echoes the theme, style, and color palette of the station floor with imaginative spatial reconfigurations, and readymade enlargements of the form, taking into account the aesthetic value and practical function of public art.
The designer of Modern Times, Wang Yuanpeng, a teacher at the School of Fine Arts, Northeast Normal University, and deputy director of the Public Art Research Center, Northeast Normal University, has created a work of art that Starting from the design concept of spatial integration, the unique space structure and color tone of the assembly station is fully utilized, highlighting the fashionable and modern design.
