About this Project.
This large outdoor sculpture is like a mirror of the sky, and it feels that the distance between the sky and people is getting closer.
Since the beginning of the 21st century, the art world has begun to attach importance to people, and more attention has been paid to people's living conditions and spiritual belonging. The concept of the freehand sculpture came into being.
This huge outdoor sculpture is made of stainless steel and has a polished mirror surface. It is like a huge writing brush left in nature with scorching ink and leaving white marks. Incorporating mirrors into the changing landscape of the surrounding environment, together with the strong texture of the boulder, strengthens the "image" between the specific images in its paintings and sculptures, all it means is a metaphysical concept with the meaning of philosophy and art ontology.
1. The curved mirror stainless steel monumental sculpture was completed in 2014, after a 3-month fabrication. It is based on a great design by a famous Chinese artist who has deeply acknowledged and researched ancient and modern cultures, seeking a compatible field between them.
This stainless steel plays a good medium that presents the idea due to its multiple possibilities. The two kinds of surface treatments, mirror polish, and electroplate, make the visual figure more extensive. And the seams of longitude and latitude are deliberately left corresponding to the design. It seems the endless realm has sectioned a piece 24 meters (82ft) wide and 7.5 meters (20ft) high. As an audience, we can get various interpretations from the work, the collision between tradition and modernity, the interweaving of local and global, the convergence of the East and the West, the mixing of history, present, and future, and a kind of isolated cultural nostalgia. It forms a kind of changeable and flowing mirror game of "seeing" and "being seen" each other. Once unveiled, it has appealed to a continuously increasing number of people there.
