About this Steel Monument
Beijing West Railway Station is a large-scale transportation hub station in China. There is a red spherical sculpture in the South Square of Beijing West Railway Station, but do you know the name of this iconic sculpture?
This large sculpture is called Guofeng and was designed by sculptor Huo Boyang. The sculpture has a total height of 25 meters, a diameter of 15 meters, and a total weight of 170 tons. The totem dragon of the Chinese nation is used as the basis for modeling. The three red dragons form a thriving red sphere, which leaps into the air and resembles a flame. The design is simple and elegant. The Guofeng sculpture was donated by China Railway Engineering Corporation and was established in October 2003.
